Usec. Savellano visits CSUG’s Bamboo Sanctuary

The Undersecretary for Livestock of the Department of Agriculture, Usec. Deogracias Victor B. Savellano, visited CSU-Gonzaga’s Bamboo Sanctuary last April 13, 2024. With him were the Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture Region 2, Dir. Rose Mary G. Aquino; the Regional Director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2, Dir. Angel Encarnacion and the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 Assistant Regional Director, Mr. Winston T. Singun.

The dignitaries were welcomed by the Campus Executive Officer of the Gonzaga Campus, Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr. and the University Technical Adviser and Former President of CSU, Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado who was tasked to represent the OIC President, Engr. Arthur Ibaňez. Also present during the visit were the University Information Officer and Executive Secretary, Prof. Marie Cauilan and the Sangguniang Bayan Member of Gonzaga and Chair of the Agriculture Sector, Honorable Ferdinand Baclig. Designated officials of the campus were also present to show support to the Honorable Usec. and his team.

During the visit, Dr. Pacris toured Usec. Savellano and his team to the Bamboo Sanctuary and discussed with them its components. He was also toured to the Mangrove and Bamboo Research and Innovation Center (MABRIC) tissue culture laboratory, the Bamboo Setum, and the Bamboo Nursery. Thereafter, an informal discussion was held in the Bamboo Café where the visitors were served sumptuous Ilokano dishes and delicacies.
