CSU GONZAGA HOLDS 47TH ACADEMIC CONVOCATION WITH 410 NEW GRADUATES

Gonzaga, Cagayan—Cagayan State University (CSU) Gonzaga Campus held its 47th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles on July 5, 2025, honoring 410 graduates across six academic colleges.

The graduates emerged from the College of Agriculture, College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy, College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Hospitality and Management , College of Information and Computing Sciences, College of Teacher Education. A total of 16 academic awardees were recognized, including 7 cum laude, 3 Academic Distinction, and 6 With Merit recipients.

University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez delivered the Charge to the Graduates, urging them to embrace the growing opportunities in agriculture, tourism, law enforcement, education and more. He encouraged graduates to be problem-solvers and champions of sustainability, armed with the knowledge and values CSU has instilled in them.

Gracing the occasion as Guest Speaker was DOST Regional Director and a CSU proud alumna, Dir. Virginia G. Bilgera ably represented by Senior Science Specialist Ms. Raquel B. Santos. Drawing from her experience in science and technology, she inspired the graduates by showing how small innovations can make big impacts, from bamboo processing centers that support livelihoods to climate-smart farms and barangay-based science interventions.

“Be resilient, innovative, globally competitive yet locally relevant. Strive for excellence without losing your humanity. Value teamwork, humility, and lifelong learning,” Director Bilgera said. “You are graduating into a rapidly changing world—your CSU education has prepared you to thrive and lead.”

CHED Chairperson and CSU Board of Regents Chair Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis paid tribute to the many who supported the graduates’ journey, professors who adapted and persevered, leaders who upheld access and quality, families who sacrificed, and the unseen heroes like farmers, workers, and taxpayers whose efforts live in every diploma awarded.

Delivering the Address of Thanks was Hanie U. Yagin, Cum Laude and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Crop Science graduate. Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, she reflected on the values that shaped their CSU journey—resilience, purpose, and compassion. “Let us be CSUans not just by title, but by the impact we make,” she concluded, stirring pride and emotion from the crowd.
