With warmth and hospitality, the CSU-Gonzaga family welcomed the guests, university officials, scholars of Senator Angara and coaches from the different CSU campuses, officiating officials, and campus officials during the opening of the 2024 Senator Sonny Angara’s Barkada League on March 4 at the campus ground.
The event was graced by the political staff of Senator Sonny Angara in the person of Mr. Niňo Nuňez and the political staff of Senator Pia Cayetano, Mr. Gene Pahati. Both dignitaries shared messages of sportsmanship, fair play and hard work.
Meanwhile, some words of welcome and inspiration was shared by Dr. Jayrome Butay, the OIC of the Gonzaga campus and Mr. Dondon Collado, the Executive Secretary of the Office of the Mayor representing the Honorable Mayor Marilyn Pentecostes. Both expressed their cheer in hosting the event despite scarcity of sports equipment; yet assured to provide the best services Gonzaganians can offer.
Further, Dr. Mariden Cauilan, the University Vice President for Academic Affairs inspired the scholar-athletes to give their best in their academic endeavor and to live up the good deeds and character learned as scholars of Senator Angara.
Likewise, Dr. Arthur Ibaňez, OIC President of CSU, commended the Gonzaga campus for taking the challenge to host the league and for making the celebration remarkable through its festive and great services.
Thereafter, the league was formally opened by Dr. Ibaňezz.
Ending the significant event was a thank you clip given by the scholars and officials of CSU to the Honorable Senator Sonny Angara for his support to the university and the students.
The league is set to end on March 6.
