The Campus Extension Office of Cagayan State University–Gonzaga conducted a Community Consultation and Baseline Assessment on June 26 at the MABRIC Conference Hall as part of the implementation of its joint extension project with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gonzaga.
The activity gathered officials and members of the Gonzaga Senior Citizens Association (GOSECA), Rural Improvement Club (RIC), farmers, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons to discuss the project, "Empowering Youth, Women, Senior Citizens, and Farmers through Integration of Tissue-Cultured Banana, Camote, Potato, Bamboo, Livestock and Poultry to Farming Systems for Livelihood and Sustainable Environment."
Representing Mayor Hon. Rellie S. Dalamaceda, LGU Executive Secretary Mr. Mark Kevin Vicente expressed the municipality's gratitude for the partnership and encouraged all stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of the project.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Ferdinand Baclig, representing Vice Mayor Hon. Sheryl Anne Gaspar, affirmed the continued support of the Sangguniang Bayan for CSU initiatives, assuring participants that the legislative body remains committed to providing assistance needed for the project's implementation.
The presentation of the extension project and the conduct of the focus group discussion were led by Campus Extension Coordinator Ms. Myraly Marcos, who outlined the project's objectives, implementation strategies, and expected community benefits. The consultation also served as a venue for gathering baseline information and identifying the needs and priorities of the participating sectors.
A highlight of the activity was the expression of commitment from representatives of the different sectors, who signified their willingness to establish demonstration areas, participate in capacity-building activities, and adopt the technologies that will be introduced through the project.
The consultation was supported by faculty members of the College of Agriculture led by Dean Dr. Jayrome Butay.
