To ensure that documents and other requirements are already in place, and to assess the preparedness of the campus for the upcoming Level III Phrase II accreditation of the College of Agriculture, a Mock Accreditation was held on October 27, 2023 at CSU-Gonzaga.

Composing the team of evaluators who looked into the evidences were Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Marie Claudette Calanoga, the newly appointed University Quality Assurance officer; Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., CSU-Gonzaga CEO, and Prof. Laurine Balatico, the Campus Academic and Quality Assurance coordinator.

In the opening program, Dr. Cauilan advised the Campus Task Force to package their documents properly.

“In packaging, there should be a balance between form and substance especially now accreditors depend on electronic documents. The challenge is for you to show the strength of your program through the documents packaged properly,” she said.

Dr. Cauilan further emphasized that accreditation is important to know the areas that need improvement and the areas of strength. Ultimately, the campus aims to get certification that the program is compliance to quality standard; yet, faculty members need to realize that instruction remains to be their core function in the university.

“Let accreditation be a day-to-day activity of faculty members. Let us integrate the process to our system so we do not spend sleepless nights anymore when accreditation comes. There should be no miss classes as a result of accreditation. Let us give our students what they deserve while they are in the university,” she added.

Dr. Calanoga also shared her experience as Dean of the College of Teacher Education of the Andrews campus in their success in the recent AACCUP accreditation making their BEED program Level IV compliant.

“Even before accreditation I already made sure that all activities contributing to program compliance are properly and systematically filed, coded and scanned. Soft copies of all documents were properly safeguarded as well,” she shared.

Dr. Pacris likewise expressed his gratitude to all who worked committedly for this event. The CEO reminded everyone accreditation is not the finish line but a launching pad for greater achievements, discoveries and contribution. Also, the CEO expressed his commitment to comply with the recommendations of the accrediting body.

“As we move forward, we commit in maintaining the high standards set by the accrediting body, continually improving our program, and fostering an environment of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity,” the CEO said.

The Level III Phase II accreditation of the College of Agriculture is set to happen on November 13-15, 2023.
