CSU-Gonzaga, through the Campus Quality Assurance office, is now taking the steps for its preparation for ISO 9001-2005 certification as all campuses of CSU are now gearing towards ensuring that all their services conform to international standard.

On December 6, a Seminar-Workshop on ISO 9001-2005 and Risk-Based Thinking was held in the campus with Mr. Jaypee Alegado and Engr. Ronaldo Bautista as speakers.

Through the guidance and comprehensive discussion of the competent speakers, the brief history of ISO and its importance were made clear. The seven principles of Quality Management System were likewise elaborated. Developing a Risk-Based thinking was also emphasized in the lecture as this is an approach that should be incorporated in the entirety of QMS. This approach, according to the lecturer, is proactive rather than reactive which promotes continual improvement.

Moreover, Dr. Jay Omotoy, the Campus Planning Officer, sat the mood of the training through his strong words of encouragement to CSU-Gonzaga team.

“We must not get tired of doing great and good. We are a strong campus and we shall always be. We shall prepare hard on this and sooner or later, the products of our sacrifices in our desire to give the best services shall all be realized,” he shared.

Prof. Florina Gonzales, the OIC of the day, likewise urged her colleagues to embrace ISO despite the challenges in preparation as this shall make the services of the campus better.

Lastly, Dr. Jomel Pinera concluded the seminar by thanking the speakers and trainees for their active participation. According to him, the process may be challenging, yet all should be working together towards ensuring quality education and services to students aligned to the University Mission and Goals.

All were delighted with the information learned and the campus is getting ready for its turn to be certified as ISO compliant in the future.
