CSUG Researchers Win Best Paper Awards at PAEPI International Extension Conference

Cagayan State University-Gonzaga celebrated a remarkable achievement as two of its representatives, Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr. and Ms. Myraly Marcos, secured 2nd Place Best Paper awards at the Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. (PAEPI) International Extension Conference held from December 11 to 15, 2024, at Maejo University in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga, received 2nd Best Paper in the Agriculture, Food, and Environment category for his study titled “The Bamboo Sanctuary of Northern Luzon: An Integrated Program for Bamboo Research Development and Extension through Ecotourism.” His work was recognized as one of the bests among 23 research projects presented.

Ms. Myraly Marcos, Campus Extension Coordinator, also earned 2nd Best Paper in the Entrepreneurship and Circular Economy category for her research titled “Empowering Individuals as Agripreneurs: Fostering Lifelong Learning through Agricultural Entrepreneurial Skills Development.” Her paper stood out among 12 research presentations in this highly competitive category.

Also present at the event was Dr. Josie Bas-ong, University Director for Extension, who joined Dr. Pacris and Ms. Marcos in representing CSU at this prestigious international gathering. The three participants took their oaths as newly elected regional officers of PAEPI, with Dr. Bas-ong serving as Board of Directors, Dr. Pacris as Vice President, and Ms. Marcos as Public Relations Officer.

The PAEPI International Extension Conference, themed “Global Perspectives: Cultivating Cultural Diversity and Community Empowerment for a Prosperous Future,” brought together extension professionals, researchers, students, faculty, and stakeholders from across the ASEAN region. The event underscored the significance of cultural diversity and community empowerment in fostering collaboration for sustainable development.
