"Let's integrate gender sensitivity and human rights education into our curricula to foster a generation that respects and protects women's rights."

These were the words of Campus Executive Officer Dr. Froilan Pacris Jr. during the kickoff of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on November 5, 2024. Faculty and staff of Cagayan State University-Gonzaga Campus (CSUG) showed their solidarity by attending the event, all wearing orange to symbolize their support for the cause.

The program, anchored on Proclamation 1172, s. 2006, reaffirms the campus’s commitment in promoting gender equality and human rights. By participating in this nationwide campaign, CSUG aims to raise awareness among students and staff about the prevalence and impact of violence against women, and to educate them on how to contribute to its eradication within the campus and the broader community.

Dr. Pacris urged the Tangkiran community to incorporate gender equality and human rights education into the curriculum, emphasizing the importance of identifying and addressing all forms of violence.

"Let us raise our students to recognize the forms of violence—physical, psychological, or economic. Our research can uncover the root causes, assess the impact of violence, and propose effective interventions," he said, highlighting the role of academia in addressing this critical societal issue.

The campaign also featured dynamic activities, including a unity dance performed by students and staff. A ramp walk followed, where selected student representatives from various college departments showcased their own initiatives and advocacy campaigns aimed at ending violence against women.
Through events like this, CSUG continues to inspire action and foster a culture of respect, equality, and justice, championing the rights and welfare of women.
