Cagayan State University–Gonzaga secured Second Place in the Annual Sayawitan 2025, a festive inter-campus competition that highlighted Filipino Christmas traditions through music and dance, held on December 19 at the Red Eagle Gymnasium, CSU Carig, Tuguegarao City.
The Sayawitan formed part of the Year-End Performance Review, President’s Report, and Sayawitan celebration of the university. A total of 11 teams from various CSU campuses and the Central Administration competed, presenting performances inspired by Filipino holiday culture and aligned with their chosen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Despite facing significant challenges, the CSU-Gonzaga team delivered a compelling and well-coordinated performance. According to Mr. Jerome Sabug, one of the team’s choreographers, preparations were particularly demanding due to the tight schedule of campus activities in the weeks leading up to the event.
“This year’s performance was tough because of the many activities the campus held prior to Sayawitan, including the AACCUP accreditation, ISO audit, and year-end celebrations, which resulted in limited time for practice,” Sabug shared. “However, through the cooperation, commitment, and sacrifices of the entire team, we were able to organize the routine and perform with confidence and unity on stage.”
Their dedication paid off as CSU-Gonzaga was awarded Second Place and received a cash prize of ₱30,000, marking another achievement for the campus and showcasing the talent and teamwork of its faculty and staff.
The victory reflects CSU-Gonzaga’s resilience and collaborative spirit, proving that excellence can be achieved even amid demanding academic and institutional responsibilities.
