Cagayan State University conducted a two-day Technical Officials Training for sports coaches on June 26–27, with the CSU-Gonzaga Campus serving as the host venue.
The training aimed to strengthen the technical officiating and refereeing competencies of sports coaches from the different CSU campuses.
Participants were formally welcomed by Campus Executive Officer Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., represented by Campus Chief of Staff Mrs. Mary May Baclig. She was joined by the Campus Sports Coordinator of CSU-Gonzaga, Dr. Evelyn Saribay, in receiving the delegates.
University Director for Sports Dr. Giovanni Morales also delivered a message emphasizing the importance of continuous capability-building for sports personnel, highlighting the vital role of competent technical officials in ensuring the quality, fairness, and integrity of university athletic competitions. Following his remarks, he introduced the resource speakers who facilitated the specialized training sessions in their respective sports disciplines.
The training featured expert-led sessions facilitated by seasoned resource speakers in their respective disciplines: Rissa Banaña for Arnis, Arnold Padilla for Athletics, Marfred Sanchez for Chess, Victor Rebolledo II for Basketball, Aaron Robert Binarao for Taekwondo, and Roberto Celso for Volleyball.
The activity forms part of CSU's ongoing efforts to enhance the professional capabilities of its sports coaches, ensuring that university athletic events are managed with professionalism, consistency, and adherence to national standards.
