CSUG hosts Cagayan Bamboo Industry Benchmarking activity

CSU-Gonzaga made another milestone in its commitment to contribute to the development of the bamboo industry in Cagayan as it hosts the Cagayan Bamboo Industry Council Benchmarking Activity on September 12, 2019.

Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr., CEO of Gonzaga Campus presented to the members of the bamboo industry council CSU-Gonzaga’s Bamboo Research, Development and Extension Program. The participants also visited the bamboo nursery in the Campus where the extension staff had a demonstration on proper bamboo propagation.

In his message, Dr. Samuel Garcia, President of the Cagayan Bamboo Industry Council expressed his eagerness to develop the bamboo industry in Cagayan and keep with the development of the industry in other provinces of the Region with CSU Gonzaga as their primary partner.

“With CSU-Gonzaga in the forefront, many things can be done, and I would like to dream big with you, CSU-Gonzaga,” he stressed.

During the open forum, Ms. Ellen Tuddao, head of Tuguegarao City Investment Office thanked CSU-Gonzaga for giving more than 200 bamboo propagules which were planted along the riverbanks of Pinacanauan.

Representatives from different local government units also requested CSU-Gonzaga’s assistance in capacitating their constituents in bamboo propagation and production.

The activity was attended by different government agencies which are part of the Cagayan Bamboo Industry Council like PhilExport Region 2, DTI, DENR, DOST, LGU-Tuguegarao City, and LGU Peňablanca
