Dr. Jayrome Butay, Dean of the College of Agriculture at Cagayan State University-Gonzaga, was hailed 1st Runner-Up in the Regional Search for Outstanding Professional Agriculturists (RSOPA) under the State Colleges and Universities (SUC) Category.
The award was conferred during the celebration of the 2nd Regional Agriculturists Month held on July 25, 2025 at Daramuangan Sur, San Mateo, Isabela, Cagayan. The RSOPA aims to recognize exemplary professional agriculturists who have demonstrated exceptional contributions in advancing agricultural education, research, and community service across Region 2.
In an interview, Dr. Butay expressed his gratitude and dedication to the profession:
“Isang malaking karangalan ang pagkilalang 1st Runner-Up Outstanding Agriculturist sa Rehiyon 2. Isa itong patunay ng dedikasyon at malasakit bilang isang edukador at espesyalista sa agrikultura na patuloy na nagsusulong ng makabagong kaalaman, pagsasaliksik, at serbisyo para sa ikauunlad ng sektor ng agrikultura at ng mga magsasaka. Ang pagkilalang ito ay hindi lamang personal na tagumpay, kundi tagumpay din ng institusyong kinakatawan ko at ng mga komunidad na patuloy na pinaglilingkuran.”
Dr. Butay’s recognition reflects CSU-Gonzaga’s commitment in producing leaders and professionals who champion sustainable agricultural development, enhance farmers’ welfare, and contribute to food security in the region.
