rish Joy Montezon, a 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management student at Cagayan State University (CSU)-Gonzaga, achieved a 5th place finish in the Provincial Tourism Quiz Bee's tertiary level category. The competition, which took place on September 20, 2024, was held at the Main Atrium of Robinsons Place Tuguegarao, featuring participants from seven State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across Cagayan.
Guided by her coach, Mr. Joemhar Cagaoan, a faculty member of the College of Hospitality Management, Montezon's achievement was further bolstered by the strong support of key leaders from her institution. Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga and Dr. Jeffrey Obedoza, Dean of the College of Hospitality Management, played vital roles in encouraging her preparation. Additionally, local support came from Honorable Mayor Marilyn Pentecostes and the Gonzaga Tourism Office, led by Mr. Jundel John Cabanela, ensuring that Montezon had the resources and motivation to excel.
The Provincial Tourism Quiz Bee, organized by the Provincial Government of Cagayan through the Cagayan Tourism Office, aimed to promote tourism knowledge and education among tertiary students. The event was spearheaded by En.P Jenifer Junio-Baquiran, the head of the Cagayan Tourism Office. Montezon's impressive ranking highlights not only her dedication but also the collaborative efforts of CSU-Gonzaga and the local government in promoting tourism.
