Cagayan State University–Gonzaga celebrated National Women’s Month on March 9 through a series of meaningful activities anchored on the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”
The campus-wide tribute highlighted the vital role of women in shaping society and promoting inclusive development. As a show of solidarity, the Office of the Campus Executive Officer encouraged employees and students to wear purple attire and actively participate in the celebration, symbolizing unity in advocating for women’s empowerment.
In his message, CEO Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr. emphasized that the theme underscores women’s invaluable contributions to society and their leadership in advancing sustainable development in environmental, social, and educational areas.
Dr. Pacris likened women to bamboo, an enduring symbol of resilience. According to him, women possess adaptability, flexibility, strength, and determination. He highlighted that women continue to make a difference by contributing to their communities and shaping society's future.
The celebration served to recognize women who are shaping the future in various sectors of the community. As part of its ongoing commitment to gender equality, Cagayan State University–Gonzaga reaffirmed its dedication in empowering women and building a sustainable, inclusive future. The campus continues to nurture talents, promote innovation, and support women in their personal and professional pursuits.
As a gesture of appreciation for women employees, the university distributed bamboo seedlings, symbolizing both environmental sustainability and women's resilience.
The celebration also showcased creativity and talent through poetry-writing, poetry-reading, and IEC-making activities that were participated in by students, teaching personnel, and administrative staff.
In the afternoon, employees attended a seminar on self-love and stress management facilitated by the campus Guidance Office, with Ms. Catherine Rodriguez serving as the resource speaker.
The day-long celebration concluded with an inspiring message from Scott Louie Pasion, who reminded participants that women embody strength and identity beyond labels.
“Hindi babae lang kundi Babae ka,” he said, emphasizing the dignity, power, and significance of women in society.
