Dr. Pacris Awarded Outstanding Extensionist; CESTEEPH Named Best Paper in PAEPI Int’l Extension Conference

Cagayan State University-Gonzaga (CSU-Gonzaga) earned major recognitions and strengthened academic linkages during the PAEPI International Extension Conference held in Coron, Palawan, from April 14 to 17, 2026.

One of the highlights of the conference was the recognition of Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga, who was conferred the Outstanding Extensionist of the Year award for his dedication, leadership, and valuable contributions to advancing extension programs and community empowerment. His outstanding initiatives in Environmental Management, Climate Action, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management were especially recognized.

In addition to receiving the award, Dr. Pacris served as a panel evaluator in the Agriculture and Fisheries category, where he reviewed 22 research papers presented at the conference.

Also representing CSU-Gonzaga were Ms. Myraly Marcos, Campus Extension Coordinator, and Dr. Jayrome Butay, Dean of the College of Agriculture. Ms. Marcos served as a panel evaluator for the poster presentation category and assessed 61 research posters.

Meanwhile, Dr. Butay presented the CESTEEPH Project under the Agriculture and Fisheries category. His presentation stood out among 22 competing entries and was awarded 1st Best Paper, bringing further pride and honor to CSU-Gonzaga.

In his message, Dr. Pacris expressed his sincere gratitude to CSU President Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez for his unwavering support in advancing the research and extension initiatives of CSU-Gonzaga. He also recognized Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, University Consultant and former University President, for her continued encouragement and invaluable support to the campus’ research, development, and extension efforts. He also acknowledged the Department of Science and Technology Region 02 and the Local Government Unit of Gonzaga for their valuable support and partnership.
The international conference gathered more than 300 delegates from various universities and institutions across the Philippines, providing a platform for the exchange of best practices, research presentations, and extension innovations. The event also opened opportunities for collaboration and possible partnerships with participating universities, government agencies, and international institutions, including those based in the United States through Dr. Robert Kemrauit.
