In support to Cagayan State University OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez's 5,000 Trees Project, the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) students and faculty members took part in a successful tree-planting activity on September 6, 2024. Led by Campus Coordinator for the Tree Planting and Greening Project and the CCJE Dean, Mr. Ohlie Malazzab, the group planted a total of 622 seedlings around the campus.
The breakdown of seedlings planted includes 552 coffee seedlings, 67 golden trees and 3 acacia seedlings. This initiative not only contributes to the university’s environmental sustainability goals but also supports the region's greening efforts, reinforcing CSU-Gonzaga’s commitment to ecological conservation.
The tree-planting event is part of the ongoing efforts to meet the target of 5,000 trees under Dr. Ibañez's leadership, underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship in CSU’s mission to create a greener, more sustainable campus.
This movement in the campus started in 2023 wherein the six colleges likewise conducted tree planting activities in the campus in support to the project of the OIC President.
