Cagayan State University–Gonzaga formally opened the Level III AACCUP Accreditation 3rd Survey Visit on September 24 at the Administration Conference Hall, marking another milestone in its continuous pursuit of academic excellence. The three-day evaluation, which runs from September 24 to 26, covers three academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr. highlighted the resilience of the campus after the recent challenges brought by Typhoon Nando, noting that accreditation remains vital in strengthening programs.
“It provides us with opportunities for self-assessment, reflection, and improvement, which in turn assures that our graduates are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in their respective fields and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the three programs under evaluation will yield favorable results and inspire continuous improvement in instruction, research, extension, and production.
University Director for Instruction, Dr. Lirio Gudina Mangawil, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing CSU’s unwavering commitment to quality-assured programs. She noted the university’s efforts in embracing technological advancements, integrating innovative research practices, and forging international linkages with SUCs and industries to enrich student learning.
“We continue to strive to bring benefits to our students and the future generation, hence we are subjecting our programs for AACCUP accreditation,” she remarked.
The university president, Dr. Arthur Ibañez, conveyed his message through a recorded presentation, stressing that quality assurance is more than an obligation, it is an opportunity to rise above standards and pursue excellence.
“The collective spirit of the leadership, task force, personnel, and students makes CSU strong,” he affirmed, while also recognizing the time, efforts, and expertise of the AACCUP accreditors.
Meanwhile, AACCUP Coordinator Dr. Jaime Forbes discussed the significance of the visit, underscoring that accreditation is not merely a procedural undertaking but a transformative process that compels institutions to assess their systems and elevate their programs.
“Subjecting academic programs to accreditation is a bold and deliberate affirmation of a university’s unwavering dedication to quality, relevance, and academic integrity,” he stressed.
Following the opening program, task forces from each program met with their respective accreditors in breakout sessions to begin the accreditation proper.
The 3rd survey visit reflects CSU-Gonzaga’s steadfast commitment to uphold quality standards in higher education, ensuring that its graduates remain globally competitive and equipped to contribute to community and nation-building.
