After securing top 5 finishes in their respective events during the Regional Higher Education Press Conference, four student journalists from Paragon, the official campus publication of Cagayan State University–Gonzaga, advanced to represent their campus and region in the 20th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) held on April 2–4, 2025 at Batis Aramin Resort, Lucban, Quezon.

Competing among 1,071 participants from 151 colleges and universities across seven Luzon regions and one guest region from Cebu, the CSU-Gonzaga team continued to excel, with two members placing in the top 10 of their respective categories.
Leonard Jake Cabais, a 3rd-year BS in Agriculture student and editorial cartoonist, earned 4th place in Editorial Cartooning (Filipino), while Vincent Carl Cabasug, a 3rd-year BS in Information Technology student and junior editor/layout artist, placed 10th in Lay outing.

Also, part of the delegation were John Austin Viloria, a 4th year, BS in Information Technology student, who competed in Photojournalism, and Myca Ortiguez, a 4th year, BS in Secondary Education student, who joined in the Poetry Writing category.

According to their adviser, Dr. Louraine Chriscelle L. Seguritan, the team faced significant hurdles before reaching the national competition. “Difficulties almost prevented us from going to the competition,” she recalled. “But through the help of several individuals and groups, we made it, and we made it proud.”

Dr. Seguritan extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga, for his unwavering support, along with everyone who contributed through prayers, encouragement, and financial assistance.
