Cagayan State University and Isabela State University-Echague collaborate in another project entitled: “Strategic Planning and Gender and Development (GAD- Gender Based Value Chain) funded by CHED.
The project aimed to capacitate the beneficiaries of the project: CAMBASS- an organization of farmers from barangay Cabiraoan, Amunitan, Magrafil, Baua, San Jose, and Sta. Cruz, Gonzaga and the San Jose Fisherfolk Association, through information campaigns, hand-on trainings among others.
To commence the project, a training-workshop was held on November 23-24 at the MABRIC conference hall in CSU-Gonzaga.
Through the brilliant speakers, the participants engaged in strategic planning wherein they were guided in crafting the vision and mission of their organization. Further, Gender-Based Value Chain was introduced to increase their awareness on various gender issues and to determine ways on how to properly address them. The role that each man and woman plays in the workplace was also emphasized.
Leading the discussion was Dr. William Medrano, former Undersecretary for Livestock of the Department of Agriculture, who talked about the ways on how to craft vision, mission, core values and social goals, policies and guidelines in social development strategic mapping and strategic management. Dr. Jhaimee Tetz Mateo also discussed about Gender-Based Value Chain.
Prof. Ana Marie Bahala of CHED-NAFES, the Program Leader, was also present and gave the overview of the training.
Meanwhile, the participants were welcomed and inspired by Dr. Jay Omotoy who shared a message on the CEO’s behalf. Dr. Omotoy stressed out that each person has the potential to be great. Their willingness to learn is an opportunity to grow.
Dr. Charisma Vivit, the Extension Coordinator of the campus, likewise shared how lucky the participants are as they were chosen to attend the training. She encouraged them to be patient and cooperate because the speakers have a lot of learnings to share for their development and improvement of their organization.
As one of the components of the project, monitoring of the progress of the beneficiaries will be done by the campus extension office.
