Cagayan State University-Gonzaga Campus held its 48th Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles on May 12, at the campus grounds, with 526 graduating candidates officially receiving their degrees and titles from the University OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez, ASEAN Engr.
The graduates were composed of students from various academic programs, including Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Crop Science, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in English and Filipino, and Diploma in Agricultural Technology.
The ceremony was attended by university officials led by Dr. Ibanez, members of the Board of Regents, vice presidents, university directors, deans, campus executive officers from other CSU campuses, representatives from the CSU-Gonzaga Alumni Association, TESDA Region 2, Civil Service Commission Region 2, as well as campus officials, faculty members, and administrative personnel headed by Campus Executive Officer Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr.
Municipal Mayor Honorable Rellie Simbe-Dalmaceda served as the commencement speaker. In her address, she emphasized the value of education as an important foundation for personal growth and community development. She encouraged the graduates to apply the lessons they learned in school and remain prepared for future challenges.
Dr. Ibanez also delivered a message to the graduates, highlighting the role of education in preparing them to address current social and professional challenges. He encouraged the graduates to uphold integrity, resilience, humility, and public service in their respective professions and communities.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education and Chairperson of the CSU Board of Regents, reminded the graduates that their education was made possible through public investment and support. She encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills to contribute to national development and build resilient, future-ready communities.
The convocation also featured the recognition of Latin honor recipients, awarding of Civil Service Eligibility, ceremonial hooding of parents to graduates, distribution of diplomas, rendition of the graduation song, and the traditional tossing of caps.
