Faculty members from the College of Hospitality Management at Cagayan State University-Gonzaga took part in the United Tourism and Hospitality Professionals (UTHP) General Membership Meeting and International Research Conference, held from April 10 to 12 in Boracay City, Aklan, Philippines.
The annual event brought together tourism and hospitality researchers and professionals from the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and the USA, aiming to foster international collaboration, share innovative research, and promote sustainability within the industry. This year’s theme, “UTHP at Your Service: Sustainability Education, Research and Values Towards Innovation, Collaboration, and Excellence,” highlighted the organization’s commitment to progressive and service-oriented initiatives.
During the conference, Mrs. Shiena Gano, a CHM faculty member from CSU-Gonzaga, presented her research titled “Promotional Strategies of Tourist Facilities in Gonzaga, Cagayan.” Her work contributed to the pool of innovative studies designed to enhance tourism marketing in local communities.
A major highlight for CSU-Gonzaga was the election of Dr. Jeffrey Obedoza, Dean of the College of Hospitality Management, as the new UTHP Regional Director for Region 02. His appointment is seen as a recognition of his leadership and dedication to the advancement of tourism and hospitality education and practice in the region.
The event proved to be a valuable platform for professional development, cross-border networking, and academic exchange—further strengthening CSU-Gonzaga’s presence in the regional and international tourism and hospitality sectors.
