Cagayan State University-Gonzaga underwent a three-day Level III accreditation visit conducted online by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on August 26–28, covering three academic programs: the Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and Bachelor of Elementary Education.
The accreditation activity provided an opportunity for the programs to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to quality education, institutional improvement, and the effective implementation of academic practices and initiatives.
During the opening program, Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga, expressed his appreciation to the accreditation team, describing the accreditors not merely as evaluators but as partners in the university’s continuing journey toward excellence.
Dr. Pacris emphasized that accreditation goes beyond compliance with established standards. He described it as an opportunity for the institution to pause, reflect, and assess its current practices, recognize its accomplishments, and identify areas that still require improvement.
He further noted that the accreditation marks another milestone in the institution’s journey toward quality, challenging the university to ensure that its practices and initiatives are not only properly documented but are also effectively implemented and producing meaningful results.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who represented OIC University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez, delivered an inspiring message during the activity.
Dr. Cauilan highlighted that the gathering represented more than another professional development activity, emphasizing CSU’s commitment to transforming higher education through innovation, cooperation, and quality assurance. She underscored the evolving landscape of education and educators' responsibility to create learning environments that are flexible, inclusive, learner-centered, and responsive to the needs of contemporary students.
She added that the accreditation visit affirms CSU’s institutional commitment to providing quality education and continuously improving its academic programs.
Dr. Marie Claudette Calanoga, University Director for Quality Assurance, introduced the members of the accreditation team, which was headed by Dr. Jaime M. Forbes of BPSU.
For the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) program, the team was led by Dr. Renelda P. Nacianceno of ISATU as Team Leader, with Dr. Carmen L. Cruzata of ISATU serving as Lead Accreditor.
For the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE) program, Dr. Adrian B. Aguilar of BU served as Team Leader, while Dr. Job D. Paguio of BPSU served as Lead Accreditor.
For the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Criminology) program, Dr. Janice P. Milo of IFSU served as Team Leader, with Dr. Wilfredo D. Dalugdog of LSPU as Lead Accreditor.
Throughout the three-day accreditation, the accreditors scrutinized the documents and evidence submitted by the three programs through their respective college websites. The evaluation also included interviews with alumni, student leaders, and stakeholders, providing the accreditation team with opportunities to assess the programs' practices, outcomes, and stakeholder engagement.
The activity concluded with a closing program during which the Overall Team Leader, Dr. Forbes, shared the accreditation team's overall impressions of the programs following the three-day evaluation.
The Level III AACCUP Online Accreditation was conducted jointly with CSU-Lasam’s Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English.
